John Russell

John Russell is the Founder and President of The Advisors Group, providing financial expertise since 1978. John has always set the tone for our company culture of putting the needs of the clients first, based upon his personal mission statement:
“Dependability: fulfilling what I agreed to do even though it requires unexpected sacrifices.”
Professionally, John has earned the professional designations of Certified Financial Planner™ or CFP®, and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP).
What do these certifications mean?
John remains committed to continuing education and professional excellence, building upon his bachelor’s degree from L.I.F.E. College in Los Angeles. He remains on the cutting edge of developments in his profession through a heavy schedule of seminars and training, as well as active membership in the Financial Planning Association & International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy.
Outside the office, John has served in various positions in community and school endeavors and serves as a leader in his church. For personal recreation and challenge, John was inspired by his grandsons to become a student of Shotokan Karate, and earned his 2nd Degree Black Belt at age 70. He continues a regular workout regimen at his local gym. John and his wife Sugar also stay busy with the lives of his adult children, their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, keeping them in touch with the younger generations.
